Summer is here! Yay!
We love the sunshine and all the outdoor activities available to us here in the Sacramento area. But with that fun in the sun, comes the potential to do harm to our hair.
Try these simple ways to protect your hair this Summer:
Protect your hair from the harsh Summer elements, such as sun, salt, and chlorine.
Wear a hat when possible. This keeps the direct sunlight from fading color. (It also helps keep the harmful UVA and UVB rays off your face.)
When you cannot wear a hat or scarf, treat your hair with great products that shield the hair from the sun's harmful rays. Products with SPF really do the trick. (Try Redken's Color-Extend Sun care line)
Use chelating shampoos after swimming in the pool or ocean. Remember that chlorine is a chemical and salt is the enemy of haircolor. Make sure to rid your hair of saltwater as soon as possible.
Finally, use a protein treatment, as well as a deep moisturizer at least once a week to rebuild and replenish sun-beaten locks. This will strenthen and soften those dry, brittle ends and help keep hair from splitting!
